Love in February: Week One Read online

Nicole was surprised to find there wasn't a giant TV in the room until she found a remote by the bed. When she pressed the remote, the huge mirror across from the foot of the bed changed to display a TV screen. This place got more amazing by the minute. She flipped through the channels for a minute and realized she could be exploring more of the house.

In the office she expected to just have a simple writing desk. To her delight, it actually had a bookcase that was full to the brim, a computer that appeared to be new, and a seating area. If she was here more than just one night, she wouldn’t be able to resist taking advantage of this in-home library. The other bedrooms were similar to hers but smaller. There was a loft area that had a TV that looked to be the same size as the one in the downstairs living room and more just general lounging space by a full bar.

She couldn't believe this place is even real. Nicole was wandering through the living room when she noticed through the full wall of glass that faced the swimming pool that Brent had come outside. He wasn't just out for an afternoon stroll. He had on some tiny Euro style swim trunks and a pool towel slung over his shoulder.

Nicole wasn't sure which of the gods had sculpted his body, but she wanted to head to Mount Olympus and thank them personally. He must have a personal trainer, because his body was sculpted from foot to crown. His bronzed skin clung to his rippling muscles. He had the body of the swimmer. Broad shoulders and down to a tapered waist. Abs everywhere. She was surprised to see he had a rather large scar line trailing down one side of his six-pack abs. But the rest of his body, as far as she could tell, was unmarked.

Brent had some body hair, but nothing too crazy. Just enough so you knew that you were dealing with a man. Not that Nicole could ever expect to deal with a man of his position, but a girl could dream.

He tossed his towel over onto one of the lounge chairs by the pool and dove into the deep end with barely a splash. Brent began swimming laps with ease. At least, it looked easy enough from where Nicole was standing. Suddenly thirsty, Nicole wished she had brought her wine.

She realized she was standing so close to the window that her nose was nearly touching the glass. She backed up a step or two just in case he could see inside when he did finally get out of the pool. But she didn't back up so far that she couldn't see him. She wasn't sure how long she stood there watching him swim, but when he finally did come up, even she was gasping for air.

Brent pulled himself up on the edge of the pool instead of taking the stairs. The water sluiced off his body. He ran a hand through his black hair and slicked it back as he strolled over to reach the chair. He ran the towel over his hair before roaming it languidly down his body. Nicole thought she might pass out. Maybe she’d had too much wine.

She headed back to the living room and collapsed in a heap on the couch. Nicole had to lighten her mood because she was having thoughts that were anything but light. She put on a romantic comedy and wondered what she was going to do when she had to inevitably call him to find out the status of her car. There was no way she would be able to look him in the face after seeing his beautiful body. She would just be trying her hardest not to ogle his exquisite physique.

  From the Author

So, what did you think? I hope that you liked it. My plan is to give you seven new couples every week. If there is a particular couple that you would like to hear more about, drop me a line! If there is enough interest in a couple, I can expand their story into an entire book. Not to worry, I’ll still be writing longer stories, too. If there’s a particular genre of romance that you would like to see, I can always give it a test drive in one of my weeklies. I have a few paranormal romances planned, too.
